What do a role-based search and user flows mean? Some theory behind the semantic roles (see WordNet) and its practical implications.
Here is the recent article I wrote about the value of roles for text summarization. We write abstracts for essays and white papers, give pitches, explain concepts, and describe our work experience. Text summarization is essential, and there are still no tools to tackle it properly. Why is this so, and what can we do? Some thoughts and overall direction for future development.
An excellent example of how we introduce roles into daily routines is a multi-desktop feature in Windows 11. I had never used it before; I didn’t understand why anyone needed it. But now I have created two desktops - one for product engineering setup and the other for project management. In the first, I have Logseq, Word, Zotero, GitHub Desktop, and ArchiMate modeler opened and notifications off. In the second, I have Outlook, messengers, and Discord, with notifications on. And it makes perfect sense now when I understand that I put another hat on when I am changing the desktop environment.
